PLAN THE JOURNEY BEFORE PRODUCTION

Delivery & Shipping

Cabin delivery works best when supply format, package dimensions, freight responsibilities, site access, unloading, storage, and arrival inspection are agreed early.

DELIVERY PLAN

Connect the factory, freight route, and destination site.

Transport choices depend on the cabin system, route, legal limits, handling equipment, and agreed trade terms.

Choose the supply format

Flat-pack, panelised, modular, or mixed supply creates different package sizes, lifting needs, protection methods, and site work.

  • Package and module dimensions
  • Weight and centre-of-gravity data
  • Assembly and lifting assumptions

Define packing and loading

Agree how components are protected, separated, labelled, braced, and reconciled against the packing list.

  • Moisture and impact protection
  • Package IDs linked to drawings
  • Loading sequence and restraint plan

Allocate freight responsibilities

The contract should name the agreed Incoterms® rule and named place, insurance approach, customs documents, charges, and transfer points.

  • Named place and contract year
  • Exporter and importer responsibilities
  • Carrier and insurance coordination

Prepare unloading and storage

Check road access, turning space, crane or forklift suitability, ground conditions, exclusion zones, weather protection, and secure storage.

  • Access and lifting survey
  • Foundation and service readiness
  • Short-term storage protection

Inspect on arrival

Record seal and package condition before unloading, then reconcile quantities and document damage promptly under the contract and insurance process.

  • Time-stamped photos and delivery records
  • Package count and label check
  • Damage quarantine and notice process

WORKING METHOD

Prepare one chain of custody from release to handover.

The delivery file should make the status of each package, document, and responsibility easy to understand.

  1. 01

    Route review

Check origin handling, international freight, port or terminal interfaces, and final-mile constraints.

  2. 02

    Packing approval

Confirm package list, protection, labelling, dimensions, weights, and lifting information.

  3. 03

    Shipment release

Close inspection findings and align the commercial and transport document set.

  4. 04

    Site readiness

Verify access, foundations, equipment, labour, storage, weather plan, and local permits.

  5. 05

    Arrival record

Inspect condition, reconcile packages, report exceptions, and preserve evidence for follow-up.

BUYER NOTE

Trade terms do not replace a detailed responsibility schedule.

An Incoterms® rule helps allocate selected delivery obligations, costs, and risk, but the purchase contract still needs product scope, documents, packaging requirements, inspection rights, payment terms, insurance details, and local installation responsibilities. Obtain advice appropriate to the route and transaction.

  • Write the rule, named place, and applicable edition in the contract
  • Confirm document requirements with the buyer, forwarder, broker, and destination authorities
  • Do not book lifting equipment until verified weights and handling points are available
